MOSCOW, March 10 (RIA Novosti) - At least 28 people have been killed and 36 wounded in a powerful explosion of a car bomb that hit an eastern Shiite district of Baghdad Saturday, the Al-Jazeera television channel said citing police sources.
The source said the victims of the blast in Sadr-City included three Iraqi servicemen.
Baghdad is hosting an international conference on Iraq convened by the Iraqi Shiite-led government in the Green Zone in central Baghdad.
Two mortars exploded in the area near the venue of the conference, the Foreign Ministry building, earlier Saturday, Al-Arabia television said quoting police. No victims have been reported. Russian officials are attending the conference.
