MOSCOW, March 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russia will soon launch the production of environmentally friendly motor bio-fuel, the agriculture minister said Thursday.
Alexei Gordeyev said Russia is building a plant to produce bio-ethanol from grain in the West Siberian city of Omsk, and another rapeseed bio-diesel refinery is expected to be constructed in the country's west, Gordeyev said.
Russia will be able to export the fuel to Europe, where environmentally friendly bio-fuel must by law constitute 5.75% of motor fuel as of 2010, the agriculture minister said.
Gordeyev also said that large Russian cities must introduce measures aimed at using environmentally clean fuel.
