Samara, March 17 (RIA Novosti) - - Six people are still in the body of the jet liner that crashed in a tragic emergency landing in southern Russia Saturday morning, an emergency service spokesperson said.
Irina Andrianova, head of the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, confirmed that seven people were killed and many injured when the Tu-134 crash-landed in Samara.
The jet, owned by Siberia-based UTAir, Russia's fifth largest carrier, had 50 passengers and seven crewmen on board
She said the jet, en route from the West Siberian town of Surgut, touched the runway with a wing on landing in foggy weather.
Andrianova said the ministry did not have any information that the plane had had a chassis malfunction as it was reported earlier.
Nineteen people were hospitalized, including six in serious condition, in Samara and the nearby town of Tolyatti.
