MOSCOW REGION, March 17 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's foreign minister said Saturday that a trilateral mechanism representing Russia, the European Union and the United States could be arranged to resolve urgent international issues.
"We support a comprehensive approach to problems of stability in the Euro-Atlantic area, and we can develop informal interaction on all complicated issues within the Russia-EU-U.S. framework," Sergei Lavrov said at a Foreign and Defense Policy Council meeting.
He said a basis for such cooperation existed, namely such mechanisms as the Group of Eight industrialized nations, the Middle East quartet and Iran-6.
