VLADIVOSTOK, March 27 (RIA Novosti) - A U.S. citizen was beaten and robbed in the city of Vladivostok in Russia's Far East early Tuesday, police said.
Four young suspects have been detained and investigation launched.
Russia has seen an upsurge in the number of attacks on foreigners in the past few years, but most of them have been racially motivated. One of the most brutal race-hate assaults took place in April when a group of teenagers attacked a Vietnamese national near Voronezh in southern Russia. The man died a few days later of injuries sustained during the attack.
