HANOI, April 6 (RIA Novosti) - A 13-year-old Cambodian girl has died of bird flu, the local media reported Friday.
Cambodia's health ministry said the Cambodian girl was taken to a hospital in her native province, on the Vietnam border, but her condition deteriorated and she was transferred Wednesday to a hospital in Hanoi, where she died Thursday.
This is the first death from bird flu in Cambodia since early this year. In total seven people have died of bird flu in the country.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), bird flu has killed 171 people around the world since late 2003.
