MOSCOW, April 12 (RIA Novosti) - Atomstroyexport has completed the assembly of the second reactor block at the Tianwan nuclear power plant in China, the Russian nuclear equipment export monopoly said Thursday.
Atomstroyexport is building the Tianwan NPP in eastern China's port city of Lianyungang. The plant, which is being built under a 1992 bilateral agreement, features improved VVER-1000 reactors and K-100-6/3000 turbo-generators.
The final assembly began March 23 after fuel had been loaded at the unit, which is due to be launched in May.
Experts are conducting hydraulic tests of the first and second reactor circuits and preparing technological systems and equipment for minimum controlled reactor power operation.
The first unit of the Tianwan NPP went on line in early January.
