CHELYABINSK, April 28 (RIA Novosti) - Consul Roderico Caparas Atienza of the Philippines, at a meeting with Igor Aristov, vice-president of the South Urals Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed interest in organizing an official visit by a Filipino delegation to the Chelyabinsk Region, the latter's Ministry of Economic Development told RIA Novosti.
The meeting took place during the international forum on trade and economic cooperation between Russia and countries of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) which was held in late April in Moscow. The Chelyabinsk Region was singled out as an active participant in the program to develop economic cooperation with ASEAN. Two regional companies, Uraltrak and Avtomobilny Zavod Ural (the Urals Automobile Plant), are actively involved in cooperation with the Philippines.
It should be noted that the Philippines' government has set aside a substantial sum for buying equipment from Russia, and south Urals companies are eager to take part in this tender.
The consul said that the Chelyabinsk government's activities were making the region known in Southeast Asian countries and that the region's companies were actively operating on the markets of the Philippines and ASEAN.
