MOSCOW, May 14 (RIA Novosti) - Inflation in Russia in the first week of May was 0.2%, while this month's inflation is expected to be 0.5-0.6%, the Economic Development and Trade Ministry said Monday.
Andrei Klepach, director of the ministry department for macroeconomic planning, admitted the 0.2% weekly figure was a bit on the high side, but said the first week of a month is not very indicative in that respect, with monthly inflation expected at a rate of 0.5-0.6%.
April inflation was 0.6%, as compared to 0.4% in April 2006, while prices grew 4%, down 1.4%, year-on-year.
Russia's 2007 inflation projection is 7-8%. March inflation was 0.6%, February 1.1%, and January 1.7%.
