MOSCOW, May 18 (RIA Novosti) - A former North Korean ambassador to Moscow, Pak Ui Chun, was appointed the country's new foreign minister Friday, the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea reported.
The position has been vacant since the previous foreign minister, Paek Nam Sun, died early in 2007.
South Korean media reports state that Pak Ui Chun, 74, served as North Korea's ambassador in Algeria and Lebanon before heading his country's embassy in Moscow in April 1998, where he worked until 2006.
