NEW DELHI, May 18 (RIA Novosti) - At least nine people were killed and some 30, including two children, wounded after a bomb exploded in a tightly packed mosque in southern India, where thousands of worshipers gathered for prayer Friday.

Local police sources said another bomb, which did not go off, was discovered after the tragedy in the same mosque, which is Mecca Masjid, one of the largest mosques in Hyderabad, the capital city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

A senior Indian Interior Ministry official said one of the local terrorist organizations was behind the explosion, while a high-ranking official with the local authorities said the incident was a result of "anti-social sabotage" to aggravate relations between various religious groups.

A state of emergency has been declared in Andhra Pradesh state and in the capital of India, New Delhi.
