MOSCOW, May 27 (RIA Novosti) - One person was killed in a bank robbery in West Siberia, a spokesman for the local interior department said Sunday.
Unidentified persons broke into a branch of commercial bank Zernobank in the city of Barnaul on the night of May 26-27, killing a guard and stealing more than 10 million rubles ($390,000), the interior department said.
Measures are under way to apprehend the robbers, the interior department said.
In a similar attack on a branch of state-run savings bank Sberbank in the East Siberian city of Chita May 12, robbers killed two security guards and stole more than 38 million rubles ($1.5 million) in cash, and also gold and silver bullions. Police have been able to detain several suspects in the bank robbery, local prosecutors earlier said.
