GDANSK, June 8 (RIA Novosti) - President George W. Bush thanked Poland Friday for its cooperation in U.S. plans to deploy part of its missile shield in the country.

President Bush said after talks with Polish President Lech Kaczynski in Gdansk that the meeting was a dialog between allies, and that the missile shield had topped the agenda.

He stressed that the U.S. was also ready and willing to work with Russia to resolve the issue. Russia agreed to set up a working group of generals and diplomats to study the missile shield, Bush said.
