TEL AVIV/GAZA, July 6 (RIA Novosti) - The Israeli military have completed an air and ground operation in central Gaza and left the Palestinian enclave after 24 hours of fighting, a spokesman for the military told a RIA Novosti correspondent Friday.
The death toll of Palestinian killed in the raid has reached 11, most of them members of Azzedine al Qassam, a paramilitary wing of the Hamas movement, the Palestinian media said.
Some 20 people on the Gaza Strip were wounded, including a local TV cameraman with the Al Aqsa channel, who had his leg amputated, his colleagues told a RIA Novosti correspondent.
Two Israeli soldiers were injured as their armored bulldozer came under grenade gun fire.
The operation involving infantry, armor, and aircraft was conducted in a border area, close to the Bureij and Magazi refugee camps and was aimed at "destroying the terrorist infrastructure."
