BELGRADE, July 9 (RIA Novosti) - Kosovo Albanians demand the international community set a deadline for a decision over the Serbian province's status, the prime minister of the provisional government, said on Kosovo radio, a Belgrade news agency reported.
The United Nations has so far failed to pass a resolution on the status of the predominantly ethnic Albanian province, after Russia's opposition to a draft proposal granting Kosovo internationally supervised sovereignty.
Agim Ceku said the process needed to be sped up as it has lost its tempo.
On Monday Zalmay Khalilzad, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said a new draft resolution on Kosovo will be submitted to the UN Security Council in the next few days, but declined to reveal details of the new document.
Kosovo, which has a population of two million, has been a UN protectorate since NATO's 78-day bombing campaign against the former Yugoslavia ended a war between Serb forces and Muslim Albanian separatists in 1999. It remains one of Europe's poorest regions.
