MOSCOW/KHABAROVSK, July 11 (RIA Novosti) - Forty-five trains traveling the Trans-Siberian Railroad were stopped Wednesday after a major derailment in the Amur Region in Siberia shut down a section of Russia's only rail line to the Far East, an emergencies ministry spokesman said.
"The Trans-Siberian Railroad was stopped after 15 coal wagons derailed at 1:23 p.m. Moscow time (9:23 a.m. GMT). So far, there have been no reports of casualties. The accident has caused a backup of 45 trains, including five passenger trains," Viktor Beltsov said.
It is the second railroad accident in the past two days, following the Tuesday derailment of a passenger train in the Urals, which injured nine people.
