While extensive road and home repairs are continuing, the authorities have warned that minor tremors are continuing and the possibility of new quakes, up to 5 on the Richter scale, will remain strong for the week ahead.
According to latest estimates, the earthquake has flattened over 340 and damaged about 2,000 buildings; 43,000 households still lack running water, 4,000 have no electricity, and 25,000 no gas supply.
In schools and other premises used as relief centers, sanitary conditions are normal, there is food and water supplies. Many families have moved to these centers, including the elderly and minors. Some elderly people who live alone have refused to move, and social workers are bringing food and water to their homes.
