MOSCOW, August 3 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the resignation of Mikhail Prusak, governor of the Novgorod Region in the northwest, the Kremlin press service said Friday.
The president appointed Deputy Agriculture Minister Sergei Mitin acting governor and forwarded his candidacy for the post of governor, which requires the approval of the region's legislature.
A former parliamentary member, Mitin earlier also worked as deputy economics minister and deputy minister of industry, science and technology.
