ATHENS, August 9 (RIA Novosti) - Supplies of Russian natural gas to Greece were resumed Thursday after repairs to a damaged pipeline section in neighboring Bulgaria, Greece's gas distribution network ESFA said.
The pipeline's operations were brought to a halt Monday when a section of the pipe in southwest Bulgaria exploded due to a gas leak.
Natural gas supplied by Russia's state-controlled gas giant Gazprom [RTS: GAZP] to Greece via Bulgaria accounts for up to 80% of Greece's gas consumption, which totals around 2.7 billion cubic meters a year.
