MOSCOW, August 10 (RIA Novosti) - The administration of AvtoVAZ, one of Russia's largest carmakers, notified the company's trade union Friday that it was planning to fire one of its members who participated in a recent strike, a trade union leader said.

The trade union at AvtoVAZ held a strike at the plant August 1 demanding a considerable pay raise that gathered 150-600 people, according to various estimates. However, the company administration said it considered the strike a violation of labor legislation.

"We were shown a draft order to fire a member of our trade union, and we have to respond within a week whether we agree with the decision," Pyotr Zolotaryov said, adding that the trade union would not accept the dismissal.

Zolotaryov also said the trade union was planning another strike with a demand to raise workers' salaries to $1,000 per month. Management refused to meet workers' demands following the previous strike.
