MOSCOW, September 6 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is set to deregulate rail freight tariffs and passenger fares by 50% and 70%, respectively, in 2030, and plans to raise $540 billion in funding needed through private investors.

The government plans to regulate only the infrastructural side of freight tariffs. Only key social transport, such as economy class and public carriages, will be regulated, with high-speed and luxury trains being fully deregulated, Russia's deputy transportation minister, Alexander Misharin, said Thursday.

He said the share of non-regulated freight tariffs is currently about 15%.

A total of 20,046 kilometers (12,700 miles) of new rail lines in the Far East, the Primorye Territory, the eastern Urals, and Siberia are to be built over the next 20 years, he said.

The transit traffic flow is expected to triple and average train speeds to increase by at least 17%, reaching 72 kph (45 mph), he said.
