MOSCOW, September 11 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's cash budget surplus in the first eight months of 2007 reached some 1.4 trillion rubles ($56 billion), the Finance Ministry said Tuesday in preliminary figures on the budget implementation.
Income to the Russian budget amounted to 4.5 trillion rubles ($176 billion) and expenditure hit 3 trillion rubles ($120 billion) rubles in the reporting period.
The ministry said revenues to the Stabilization Fund, set up to accrue windfall oil revenues as a safeguard against financial upsets similar to the 1998 financial crisis, stood at 1.1 trillion rubles ($43 billion) in January-August 2007. As of September 1, the Stabilization Fund stood at 3.4 trillion rubles ($133 billion).
The primary surplus in the reporting period hit 1.5 trillion rubles ($60 billion).
