CHELYABINSK, September 13 - RIA Novosti. CARBO Ceramics Inc. has opened a plant in Kopeisk, Chelyabinsk Region, the governor's press service reports.
"The start-up period is just over. The plant will soon achieve its estimated proppant output of 100 million pounds, or 45,000 metric tons, a year," the source said.
The U.S.-based company has invested $32 million in the project, says the regional economic development department.
"The first stage has a 45,000-ton estimated output, which can treble to 135,000 tons a year. Construction started in summer 2005 and created a hundred new jobs in the town."
CARBO Ceramics leads the world in ceramic proppants, which increase oil and gas output in petrofracturing.
