NOVOSIBIRSK, September 17 (RIA Novosti) - A fish farm producing sturgeon and black caviar will be built in Novosibirsk, West Siberia, as part of a German-Russian project, the head of an international cultural and economic center said Monday.
A total of $16.6 million will be allocated for construction that is expected to last 16 months, Nina Penner said, adding that Russia's Gamma Service will hold a 51% stake and Germany's Fischtechnik a 49% share in the farm.
"This is a unique project to build a fish farm for breeding sturgeon and black caviar, the first of its kind in Russia," Penner said.
The fish farm is expected to produce a total of 11 metric tons of black caviar and 120,000 metric tons of fish a year, she added.
