CAIRO, October 6 (RIA Novosti) - Two Egyptian nationals were killed and nine Russian tourists were hospitalized following a traffic accident in a tunnel under the Suez Canal, 150 kilometers (90 miles) from Cairo, a local source said.
The accident occurred when a bus with some 40 Russian tourists traveling from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh collided with a truck. The bus driver and a security officer died at the scene.
Four of the injured Russian tourists were delivered to a military hospital in Suez, and others were hospitalized in Cairo. None of them were seriously injured, the source added.
Every year a total of 6,500 people die in traffic accidents in Egypt.
