LONDON, October 26 (RIA Novosti) - British investment in Russia totaled $15 billion in the first half of this year, twice as much as in the whole of 2006, a Russian diplomat said on Friday.
"In the first half of 2007, when our political relations were far from being successful, investment totaled around $15 billion, or twice the amount of 2006," Yury Fedotov, the ambassador to the United Kingdom, told an investment forum in London.
Accumulated British investment in the Russian economy currently stands at $19 billion, accounting for 10% of all accrued foreign investment.
The Russian diplomat added that commodity turnover between the countries had increased 17%, year-on-year, to $10 billion in the first eight months of 2007.
