TEHRAN, October 30 (RIA Novosti) - Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Motaki and visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed Tuesday bilateral issues and pressing international and regional problems at a meeting in Tehran.
The Russian diplomat arrived in the Iranian capital on a brief working visit earlier in the day.
Commenting on the results of the second summit of five Caspian states held in Tehran earlier this month, Motaki said: "Russian President Putin's visit to Tehran and the Caspian summit opened new possibilities in bilateral relations, and regional and international cooperation between Iran and Russia."
The Iranian diplomat urged regular bilateral talks "to promote the two leaders' ideas in the interests of Iran and Russia."
Lavrov is also expected to discuss the situation surrounding the Iranian nuclear program and bilateral issues with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad later in the day.
