MOSCOW, November 2 (RIA Novosti) - Mexican authorities have seized 23.6 metric tons of cocaine on a ship that sailed in from Columbia, in the largest drug haul in the country's history.
The cargo vessel, docked at the port of Manzanillo in western Mexico, was flying a Hong-Kong flag, local media said.
A combined police, navy and customs team found 21,000 packets of the drug, with a total street value of around $400 million, stashed in soap containers and under plastic floor covering on the ship, which arrived from Buenaventura. The team is continuing its search.
The find is the Mexico's fourth major drug haul in two months. In the operations, authorities have confiscated a total of 39 tons (86,000 lbs) of narcotics.
