MOSCOW, November 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and Ukraine will discuss prices for Russian natural gas supplies in 2008 and subsequent years at talks planned for November 15, an official Gazprom spokesman said on Tuesday.
"No agreements on gas prices have been reached as of today," Sergei Kupriyanov said.
Alexander Medvedev, a deputy chairman of Gazprom's management committee, earlier said that the price of $160 per 1,000 cubic meters earlier discussed with Ukraine would be approved if the country signed a deal of gradual transition to the average European price by 2011, which could reach $300 for 2008.
He also said that a preliminary agreement was reached with Kiev at talks on Russian natural gas supplies in 2008 and a gas deal will be signed well before the end of this year.
Gazprom set an official price for Russian natural gas supplies to Ukraine at $230 per 1,000 cu m from the start of 2006. However, Ukraine paid an average of $95 per 1,000 cu m for a mixture of Turkmenistan and Russian gas supplied at the border.
After the Central Asian country hiked its gas price, the rate for Ukraine was raised to $130 per 1,000 cu m from January 1, 2007.
