MOSCOW, November 16 (RIA Novosti) - A giant blue-and-white wickerwork beach chair on which world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, sat during a G8 summit in Germany in June has been sold for $1.5 million.
The German Bild newspaper said that the chair went under the hammer during a charity auction. The money will go to an organization called Ein Herz fuer Kinder - "A Heart for Children".
The new owner of the furniture is Reinfried Pohl, the founder of a Frankfurt-based investment consultant firm DVAG.
June's summit at Germany's Baltic resort of Heiligendamm involved the leaders of G8 members Japan, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
