Iran's deputy chief nuclear negotiator Javad Vaeedi said the agreement on the meeting between the EU's Javier Solana and Iran's Saeed Jalili had been reached following a telephone conversation with Robert Cooper, EU director of external relations.
The Iranian authorities earlier said a planned meeting between deputies of Jalili and Solana in Vienna on Wednesday to discuss Iran's uranium enrichment, which most Western countries suspect is a cover for the production of nuclear weapons, had been postponed for several days due to "technical reasons."
Despite Iran's insistence that the program has purely peaceful purposes, the country is currently subject to two sets of UN Security Council sanctions over its refusal to halt uranium enrichment.
