Iran's top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and the EU's Javier Solana will meet on November 30 in London as the five permanent UN Security Council members and Germany decide on tougher sanctions against Tehran over its refusal to halt uranium enrichment.
"All discussions on a moratorium on uranium enrichment are over. Negotiations must continue, and the opposite side should recognize Iran's inalienable rights in the nuclear sphere," Iranian spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham said.
He said that UN Security Council resolutions on Iran, providing for sanctions against the Islamic Republic, "are unlawful and must be revoked."
Western countries suspect Iran of pursuing a covert atomic weapons program, but Tehran insists that it needs nuclear fuel to generate electricity, its right under the non-proliferation treaty.
Jalili, who heads of the Supreme National Security Council, said last Thursday: "We feel optimistic [about the meeting], but a lot depends on the other side." He reiterated that Iran would not buckle to "outside pressure" and give up its nuclear energy rights.
Iran is under two sets of UN sanctions imposed since last December. The United States and its allies have pushed for tougher measures, but Russia and China have blocked the further sanctions.
