HANOI, December 12 (RIA Novosti) - A Vietnam Airlines flight was delayed for four hours at Danang Airport, central Vietnam, when several scorpions were found on board, local media said on Wednesday.
The aircraft, bound for Hanoi and carrying 165 passengers, was about to take off on Tuesday evening when crew members spotted two scorpions in the passenger section.
After a four-hour inspection, three more of the creatures were found in the plane.
"We don't yet know how the scorpions got on the plane. We are investigating the incident," the German DPA news agency cited a Vietnam Airlines official as saying.
The plane finally took off at 9:00 p.m local time (2:00 p.m. GMT) after all the scorpions had been removed.
Police are currently trying to find out how the arachnids got on the plane. One theory is that they were left on board by a smuggler of rare and exotic creatures.
