MOSCOW, December 26 (RIA Novosti) - Five unidentified assailants attacked an Indian national in northwest Moscow, making off with around $2,000 in cash and jewelry worth around $4,000, a police source said on Wednesday.
"The five men threatened him with a gun, beat him up, took his keys and entered his apartment," the spokesman said.
The attackers fled the scene in a Lada, the source added.
Routine attacks by skinheads and young gangs on foreigners and people with non-Slavic features are a regular occurrence. However, authorities have been generally reluctant to treat the attacks as race-hate crimes, portraying them instead as acts of hooliganism.
