MOSCOW, December 29 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's TVEL Corporation, a global leader in nuclear fuel supplies, said on Saturday its net profit increased 84% to 5.9 billion ($240.4 million) in 2007 year on year, according to preliminary reports.
The nuclear fuel producer also said its sales increased 29.5% to almost 37 billion rubles ($1.5 billion) year on year.
TVEL has 14 nuclear fuel producing subsidiaries in Russia. Every sixth nuclear reactor in the world is powered by TVEL-made fuel. The corporation meets the nuclear fuel demand of 73 reactors in Russia and 13 countries, including Ukraine, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Finland, Armenia, Lithuania and China. Britain joined the list of TVEL's consumers earlier this year under a contract signed in May.
The corporation supplied Iran with equipment for the reactor core operations at the Bushehr nuclear power plant on Friday.
