MOSCOW, January 11 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is demanding that all hostages being held captive by Colombian rebels be immediately released, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said Friday.
"We advocate the immediate release of all hostages being held by Colombian rebels, and the soonest possible settlement to the internal conflict in that country," Mikhail Kamynin said.
Kamynin also hailed the recent release of two hostages by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), the country's largest rebel group, as part of an international humanitarian operation.
Colombian guerrillas Thursday released two female hostages, ex-presidential candidate Clara Rojas and MP Consuelo Gonzalez, who had been held captive for six years.
Around 700 people are currently being held captive by rebel groups in Colombia.
