Swiss judicial authorities confirmed earlier in the day that the investigation against the daughter of Yevgeny Adamov had been abandoned by prosecutors due to lack of evidence.
"My view is the same as it was in September 2005 when I told a press conference by phone from a Swiss prison that all these soap bubbles [criminal cases] will burst one after another," Yevgeny Adamov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Assets and bank accounts held by Irina Adamova, frozen pending investigations, have been released. Adamova has lived in Switzerland since 1992.
Yevgeny Adamov is currently facing charges in Russia of abuse of power and fraud, and could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison if convicted. He denies all accusations against him.
Adamov, 60, who served as nuclear minister in 1998-2001, was arrested in Switzerland in May 2005 at the request of the United States, and extradited to Russia in early 2006.
