MOSCOW, January 15 (RIA Novosti) - Over 1.7 metric tons of heroin were seized by Russian narcotics officers 2007, the deputy chief of the Federal Drug Control Service said on Tuesday.
A total of 231,000 drug-related crimes were registered in Russia in 2007, up 9% from 2006 and 32% from 2005.
"Last year we seized over 30,000 of narcotics and psychotropic substances, and eliminated over 4,000 drug-trafficking centers," Alexander Fedorov said.
