GAZA, January 19 (RIA Novosti) - Israeli troops killed two Hamas fighters in a clash in the Gaza Strip on Saturday morning, local radio reported.
The gunmen were killed in a shootout after several Israeli armored vehicles entered Gaza, controlled by Islamist group Hamas since June 2007.
On Friday Israeli forces bombed the Interior Ministry in the Palestinian enclave killing one woman, and closed the border with Gaza, a move that has been condemned by the United Nations.
At least 36 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli operations in Gaza over the past week, carried out in retaliation against more than 100 rocket attacks by militants.
Seven Palestinians, including a mother and a child, were killed in Israeli air strikes on Gaza on Thursday. The fighting escalated on Tuesday when an Israeli raid on Gaza killed 19 people.
