TBILISI, January 21 (RIA Novosti) - The government of the ex-Soviet republic of Georgia resigned on Monday to allow newly-elected President Mikheil Saakashvili, who was inaugurated on January 20, to form a new Cabinet.
Saakashvili received 53.47% of the vote in an early presidential election on January 5 and is to pick a new prime minister within seven days after the government's resignation, while the new premier will present the candidatures for new ministers to the president within ten days after being appointed.
