JAKARTA, January 27 (RIA Novosti) - Indonesia's former dictator Suharto who ruled the country for 32 years died on Sunday following multiple organ failure.
Suharto, 86, who had survived several strokes and stomach hemorrhages in recent few years was hospitalized on January 4. He died in hospital after slipping into coma, doctors said.
President Suharto was deposed in May 1998 following widespread protests and street demonstrations. He had risen to power in a 1965 coup. His regime was widely criticized for corruption and major human rights abuses.
