KIEV, January 27 (RIA Novosti) - Six young people were run over and killed by a train while crossing the rail tracks on their way home from a night club in Ukraine, the emergencies ministry said on Sunday.
The young people aged 17-20 were crossing the rails to reach their homes in western Ukraine in the early hours, the ministry said.
Ukraine's rail monopoly UkrZaliznytsia said the train driver was not to blame for the accident as he gave a signal after noticing people on the rails and tried to halt the train but had no time for that.
Ukraine's President Viktor Yuschenko ordered a thorough probe into the accident.
