BRUSSELS, January 28 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine will join the World Trade Organization February 7, the country's prime minister said Monday.
"We will become a fully-fledged WTO member on February 7," Yulia Tymoshenko told journalists.
Tymoshenko said it was a great victory and thanked everyone who backed Ukraine on its admission to the global trade body.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said January 25 that an agreement on Ukraine's joining the WTO will be signed at a WTO General Council session February 5-6.
He also said that upon admission to the body, Ukraine would immediately start talks with the European Union on a free trade zone agreement.
Ukrainian authorities have called WTO membership one of the key foreign policy priorities.
