On November 23 a man gained access to an apartment and sexual assaulted a 10 year-old girl, who was home alone. About a month later a similar assault was committed. Both victims were of similar ages and appearance, including the fact that they both wore glasses.
A boy of the same age was sexually attacked on January 14 in a virtually identical crime as the two previous assaults.
The similarity in the crimes led police to believe they were dealing with a serial offender and the man was dubbed the Postman by police and press, as his method of gaining entry to apartments was to trick children into opening the door by saying he was a postman with a package for [their] mother.
During two identity line ups the suspected attacker was picked out by two of the victims.
If found guilty the suspect faces up to 15 years in prison.
