KABUL, January 31 (RIA Novosti) - At least six people including a senior official were killed in a suicide bomb explosion in Afghanistan's southwestern Helmand province on Thursday, local security services said.
Deputy Governor Pir Mohammed and several tribal elders died in the blast at a mosque in the town of Lashkar Gah during an afternoon prayer, and 18 people were injured.
Militant attacks are frequent in Helmand, a drug production hub and a stronghold for Taliban extremists.
