MADRID, February 27 (RIA Novosti) - Three Russian soccer fans arrested last week after fighting with Spanish police during a UEFA Cup match will remain in custody until their trial, a court spokesman said on Wednesday.

The incident involving Russian soccer fans and Spanish police took place on February 21 during the soccer match between Russia's Zenit and Spanish club Villareal at the El Madrigal stadium.

"The court ruled that the three Russians be remanded in custody for assaulting police," the spokesman said adding that a trial date had not been set.

Zenit, coached by Dutch trainer Dick Advocaat, lost to Villarreal 1-2 (agg 2-2) in the UEFA away match last Thursday, with the Russian club going through to the next round on the away goal rule.
