RIO DE JANEIRO, March 2 (RIA Novosti) - Four people died after a single-engine plane crashed in one of Rio de Janeiro's most expensive areas on Sunday.
The plane crashed a short distance from the Avenida das Americas, in the Barra da Tijuca district in the west of the city. The accident happened at lunch time. There were no other casualties.
Eyewitnesses said the four-seat plane's engine failed shortly after take off from the nearby Jacarepagua airport, and the plane crashed to the ground.
Firemen are working at the scene. The cause of the crash has not yet been established.
