MOSCOW, March 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's national air carrier has signed an agreement on the operational leasing of 10 new A330-200 passenger jets for up to 10 years with the Dutch leasing company, AerCap, Aeroflot said Thursday.

"The A330 planes will seriously strengthen our potential for long-distance flights and will also expand our presence on the strategic markets of Asia and the Far East. It will also mean a higher quality of passenger service," Aeroflot general director Valery Okulov said.

Delivery of the jets is planned to take place from November 2008 to April 2010.

A330s have a flight range of up to 12,500 km (7,700 miles) and are used by international airlines for long-distance passenger transportation.

Aeroflot currently has 36 Airbus planes in total. The airline uses A320 planes, one of the world's best medium-haul aircraft, on a wide number of European and domestic flights.

The company has 83 planes in total and accounts for 51% of Russia's international air traffic and 12% of domestic flights, handling flights to 93 destinations in 47 countries.
