ATHENS, March 13 (RIA Novosti) - A Greek passenger ship with 280 people on board ran aground in the Saronic Gulf near Athens on Thursday, a spokesman for the Greek Mercantile Marine Ministry said.
The spokesman told RIA Novosti that three Coast Guard vessels and two Super Puma helicopters are already working at the site, to the north of Poros Island.
The ship left the port of Piraeus this morning on a daily tourist excursion to the islands of the Saronic Gulf.
The spokesman declined to say whether the ship's passengers, who are mainly tourists, are in any real danger.
