MOSCOW, March 14 (RIA Novosti) - Baltika, a leading Russian brewery, has signed a license agreement to produce, sell and promote Japan's Asahi beer, the company said in a news release.

Under the agreement, which runs until 2012, the popular Asahi Super Dry brand will be brewed in Russia from April and will go on sale in shops at an average retail price of 45 rubles ($1.9) from June.

The beer will be sold to other former Soviet republics, starting with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan by the end of 2008.
